The Winged Fist Organization was founded in the summer of 2008 (one hundred years after the Irish-American Athletic Club's outstanding peformance at the 1908 Olympics in London) to preserve the legacy of the Irish-American Athletic Club and to bring their athletic accomplishments to the attention of the public. If you have any information about the I-AAC, if you think you may be descended from one of their athletes, if you have any photos or ephemera relating to the I-AAC, or if you have any questions pertaining to the I-AAC or Celtic Park, please email: wingedfist@gmail.com

The Winged Fist Organization recently received a letter of support from Timothy M. Bergin, president of the New York City Police Department's Emerald Society. The letter reads, in part:
“The Winged Fist Organization is doing its best to preserve an important part of both American Irish, and New York Police history. The NYPD Emerald Society is a recognized fraternal organization of the New York City Police Department, established to help foster Irish heritage and tradition within the department, and also to promote and preserve the accomplishments that the Irish have made to law enforcement. As such, we commend the organization's founder, Ian McGowan, for his efforts to rekindle interest in these police officers, who were of Irish heritage, and represented the United States with such distinction during their Olympic careers. We encourage all to support this worthy cause.”
Assistant Chief George W. Anderson, Commanding Officer of the NYPD Police Academy and a Vice President of the NYPD Emerald Society, recently accepted a role on the Winged Fist Advisory Board.
Chief Anderson has taken an active role on the board, facilitating access to the New York Police Museum's archives and providing introductions to others within the NYPD who share an interest in the work of the Winged Fist Organization.
Chief Anderson has been assisting the Winged Fist Organization in researching athletes of the Irish-American Athletic Club who were New York City Police Officers.
The Winged Fist Organization was recently approved for non-profit fiscal sponsorship by Fractured Atlas, a non-profit arts service organization. Contributions in support the work of the Winged Fist Organization may be made payable to Fractured Atlas and are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.
